Registration
I already have log in details for the www.cimaglobal.com website, do I still need to register here?
Yes, the two websites are separate and so before you begin using the service you need to complete the registration process and you will then be given your username and password
What type of account do I want?
There are two types of account. An invoice account means that we invoice your company directly for any purchases you make and this can then be paid by cheque or bank transfer. A credit card account allows you to pay online using a debit or credit card or, should you so wish, funds held in a PayPal account. With a credit card payment you will still receive in the post from us a full invoice so that you can claim this back if you so wish on your company expenses.
Having trouble registering?
If you are having trouble registering online please email us at CIMA
Online Courses and we will get back to you promptly.
How do I make sure I qualify for the CIMA members prices?
When you register, if you provide your CIMA contact ID you will be automatically given the discounted price for anything you decide to purchase. If this field is left blank it is assumed that you do not have a contact ID and that you are not a CIMA member and therefore you are charged at the non-member rate.
Logging On
I have tried to log in but I cannot access my account, what shall I do?
If you have registered and received notification that your account has been set up then you will need to check the following:
- Make sure that the email address for your username is the same as the one you registered with
- Details are case sensitive, therefore try to ensure that all is inputted in the correct format
- Ensure the password is in the correct format
- If you are still having problems then ask for a reminder of your password via the website
Purchasing Presentations
I’ve logged in, how do I buy courses?
Presentations are listed in the menu on the left. When you are logged in you can click on the course name and then select the ‘buy now’ option. Once you have selected the courses you want you can click on ‘checkout’ and depending on the type of account you have selected, you will either be directed to PayPal to complete the transaction or will be asked to confirm the invoicing details before the purchase is confirmed.
Viewing presentations
I have purchased a course. What happens next?
Once you have purchased a course online you will be able to log in
and access the course material over a period of three months. Once
you have completed the course you will be able to download a certificate
of completion.
How many times can I view a presentation?
Once purchased, you may view a presentation as many times as you require during the time that it is available for. This means you can stop and start at your convenience and repeat sections if required.
What bandwidth speed and connection do I need to watch the
online courses?
To use the CIMA Online Courses you will need 56 kbps bandwidth or
above to play the video.
I am having trouble getting the video to play, what do I need to do?
There are several factors which may need to be considered. Some of the common areas are:
- Windows Media Player – do you have a version of Windows Media Player installed on your computer? To check, start a presentation and right-click where the video should be and select ‘About’ from the menu. This will tell you what version you have. This should be later than version 7.5 to work.
-
Corporate network/firewall – if you are accessing the website via a corporate network and you are unable to play the video files then it may be that the streaming is being blocked on the network or at the firewall level.
-
If a port on a firewall needs to be opened then the following are used by the website:
Streaming ASF with UDP:
Out: TCP on port 1755
Out: UDP on port 1755
In: UDP between port 1024-5000
Streaming ASF with TCP:
In/Out: TCP on port 80
Streaming ASF with HTTP:
In/Out: TCP on port 80
-
- Bandwidth – the video will play as long as the connection speed is sufficient. To test this, if you right-click where the video should be and then click on ‘statistics’ from the menu then it will tell you what connection speed you are receiving. If this were to fall below 100kbps consistently then you may experience difficulties when viewing the presentations.
What do I do if the course I want is not available?
You are able to register your interest by clicking
here and enter your details and we will contact you when the course
is available.
Completing the presentation
I have viewed all of the parts of a presentation, what do I do now?
Once you have completed all parts we would welcome your feedback on the feedback tab of the course. Once you have submitted this to us you will be sent a certificate of completion which you can print off and use as part of your records.
